[email protected] | (334) 386-0624 | v-CardReid Cavnar joined Stifel in 2014 through its acquisition of Merchant Capital, where he had served most recently as Senior Vice President. Mr. Cavnar has more than 20 years of experience in municipal finance and routinely provides debt analysis and debt restructuring alternatives for a broad range of municipal entities, including cities, counties, universities, water, sewer and natural gas utilities, K-12 public schools and Charter Schools. He is experienced in representing clients before rating agencies, bond insurers, and other financial institutions and investors.
Over his career, Mr. Cavnar has successfully managed more than $4 billion of municipal bond issues primarily in Alabama and Florida. Prior to joining Merchant Capital, Mr. Cavnar served on the staff of U.S. Senator Richard Shelby in a variety of roles including, as a Professional Staff Member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, where his primary responsibilities involved drafting the Appropriations legislation for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Previously, Mr. Cavnar served as a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Representative Jim Talent (R-MO).
Mr. Cavnar earned an M.A. from Georgetown University and a B.A. from Montreat College and maintains the Series 50, 52 and 63 licenses.
