Michael J. Kollender

Michael is a Managing Director and Head of Consumer & Retail and Diversified Industrials (Energy, Metals & Mining) in Investment Banking at Stifel. In addition to Michael’s responsibilities overseeing the Groups’ strategic direction, he is involved in public offerings, private placements, mergers & acquisitions, restructurings, and financial advisory activities for the firm’s clients. Michael’s primary industry focus in the consumer sector includes specialty retail, brand management, consumer services, and consumer products. In addition, he has completed numerous transactions across virtually all major industry sectors and consumer sub-sectors.

Michael joined Stifel in 2007 in connection with Stifel’s acquisition of Ryan, Beck & Co. He was with Ryan Beck for eight years prior to its acquisition by Stifel. While at Ryan Beck, Michael was Head of Investment Banking and served as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Prior to joining Ryan Beck, Michael spent five years at Josephthal & Co. Inc. as a Managing Director, Partner, and Director of the Consumer Group. Before joining Josephthal, Michael was a Senior Manager at BDO Seidman, servicing a wide range of clients including financial services companies, Securities and Exchange Commission registrants, and various multinational organizations. He is a frequent lecturer on a broad array of topics including capital markets, initial public offerings, and mergers & acquisitions and currently serves as a Director of the JCC on the Palisades.

Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He received a B.S. from Syracuse University.
