John Orem

John is a Managing Director with nearly 25 years of experience advising and raising capital for clients in the gaming, lodging, real estate, and other industries. John joined Stifel from Miller Buckfire, where he advised clients in these sectors for restructuring, capital raising, and M&A assignments since 2008.

John spent 20 years at Morgan Stanley, beginning in the Firm’s Real Estate Group prior to moving into Leveraged Finance and Global Capital Markets. He then moved to the Banking Department where he ran the global gaming business. Through his capital markets and banking positions, John raised nearly $50 billion of debt and equity capital for leveraged clients. While in real estate during the 90’s, he specialized in real estate debt, equity, and equity-linked securities where he pioneered the CMBS financing business and executed the initial Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund.

He holds an MBA from Columbia University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University.
