John Crandall is a Managing Director at Stifel, Manages the Utah Public Finance practice, is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and manages the Firm’s municipal advisor principal group. Mr. Crandall started his public finance career in 1986 with a Wall Street firm and joined Stifel in 2019 through its acquisition of substantially all of the assets of George K. Baum & Company (GKB). Since joining GKB in 1988, he has represented the firm on more than 600 Utah municipal bond issues totaling more than $20 billion.

Since entering municipal finance in the mid-1980s, Mr. Crandall has been very active in advising, structuring, enhancing, and underwriting all types of municipal securities, focusing on utility revenue and general obligation transactions. During the past three decades, GKB has raised billions of dollars for water, sewer and electric districts, raising capital for critical infrastructure. An integral part of each financing is analyzing and modeling revenues, expenses, and future capital costs, as well as presenting the financing credit to rating agencies and the general tax-exempt market.

Mr. Crandall currently serves as Chair of the State of Utah Private Activity Bond Authority Board and serves on the board of a Utah-domiciled insurance company. He has a B.S. in Accounting with an emphasis in Tax Accounting and Finance from the University of Utah and holds Series 7, 50, 53, 54, 63 and PG licenses.
