Edward Wheeler

Ned joined Stifel in 2018 as a Managing Director in the Private Capital Markets Group. Before joining Stifel, he had been at FBR & Co. from its inception where he was a lead investment banker on some of the firm’s earliest and most influential transactions including 144A (“Pre-IPO”) transactions, which became a large part of the firm’s franchise. In addition to his banking experience, he brings a unique perspective to building the Stifel private capital markets platform having been a portfolio manager for private equity funds run for unaffiliated investors and FBR’s own capital, which invested in private transactions.

Prior to joining Stifel, Ned worked for FBR & Co for over 25 years, most recently as a Senior Managing Director in the Investment Banking department. Prior to his role in investment banking, he was the President of FBR Asset Management with over $1.5 billion in assets under management and 20 full time employees. He also was a portfolio manager for private equity funds and the firm’s sole Managing Director of Merchant Banking where he invested over $400 million in largely private transactions.
