C. Nicolas Bächstädt

Nicolas Bächstädt is Managing Director and Head of the DACH Recovery unit of Stifel Europe’s Investment Banking.

Nicolas focuses on mergers and acquisitions, with particular expertise in distressed M&A and restructuring, as well as in consumer & retail and diversified industries, specialty automotive suppliers and renewable energies.

He has over 20 years of experience in these segments. He held, amongst others, senior positions at Droege International Group, where he focused on restructuring, banks and Mergers & Acquisitions, and was a Partner at perspektiv GmbH. Nicolas became Managing Partner and led the Recovery division at ACXIT Capital Partners in 2014, specializing in consumer goods and diversified industries, especially automotive, plant engineering, renewables and construction. He joined Stifel in 2022 through the ACXIT acquisition. He started his career at Andersen and EY, and to date has successfully advised on more than 80 M&A transactions.

Nicolas earned a Master degree (lic.oec. HSG) in Business Administration and Economics from the University of St. Gallen and is CFA Charterholder.
