Mr. Dodson is a Managing Director in Stifel’s Religion Finance Practice with 21 years of church and nonprofit financing experience. In that time, he has directly managed the origination, distribution, or funding of more than $1 billion in church financing instruments for ministries nationwide, including taxable church bonds, direct loans, and loan participations. He serves as lead banker for most of Stifel’s religion finance practice transactions in the western United States, underwriting and structuring taxable bonds and providing loan advisory services for churches, schools, and nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining Stifel, Mr. Dodson served as director on B.C. Ziegler & Company’s Religion & Education finance team for four years, completing bond issues and loan placements for some of the largest ministries on the West Coast. He has also served as president and chief executive officer of a California-based credit union service organization, providing financing to churches and ministries nationwide, and previously led the retail brokerage team for a California investment bank, supervising the distribution of as much as $175 million in church bonds annually to the firm’s clients. He has also previously served as a Southern Baptist minister at churches in Fort Worth, Texas, and Portland, Oregon. Mr. Dodson earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Additionally, he graduated from the SIFMA Securities Industry Institute at The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and the Wharton/SIA Branch Management Leadership Institute. Mr. Dodson holds Series 7, 24, 53, 63, 65, and 79 securities licenses.
