Barry B. Bannister

Barry Bannister is a Managing Director and Chief Equity Strategist, a position he has held since 2011, having previously provided research for Stifel Equity Research and predecessor firms 1992-2010 in Machinery and Engineering & Construction. He joined Stifel in 2005.

Barry has been recognized with a number of industry honors, including multiple #1 and #2 rankings in the Financial Times/StarMine Awards and The Wall Street Journal Best on the Street Awards for earnings estimates, earnings accuracy, and stock picking, as well as multiple Institutional Investor All Star Analyst Awards for Engineering, Machinery, and Best Boutique - Capital Goods. Barry has been an analyst for 33 years. He was previously an analyst at Legg Mason Capital Markets, S.G. Warburg & Co. (now UBS), First Tennessee Investment Management, and AmSouth Investment Management (now Regions Financial).

In 2023, Bannister was named to Business Insider’s first ever “Oracles of Wall Street” list, which recognizes the country’s top market forecasters. Barry earned an MBA from Emory University and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
