[email protected] | (334) 386-0628 | v-CardMike Dunn was a founding partner of Merchant Capital, which was acquired by Stifel in 2014. His career in public finance dates back to 1983, when he entered the business as a salesman for an independent municipal underwriting firm. In 1987, he along, with five others, founded Merchant Capital.
During his 27 years with Merchant Capital, Mike managed the sales and underwriting for all of the firm’s issues which generally totaled about $1 to $1.5 billion per year, with single issues as large as $500 million. He was actively engaged in selling to both institutional and retail clients. Mike has also served as senior banker for a wide variety of transactions ranging in size up to $225 million, and totaling over $3.5 billion. He structured and completed the first “state” tobacco settlement receipt issue in the entire country. His banking experience includes corporate industrial revenue bond and 501(c)3 municipal offerings, and governmental public finance issues for cities, counties, state government authorities, and higher education institutions. Mike has served as senior banker on bond financings for over 25 different colleges and universities including two year colleges, public flagship institutions and private universities. In addition to higher education, his sector experience includes water and sewer, general government, lease backed, healthcare, utility, and industrial revenue.
Mike graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has served on the Board of Trustees for Samford University, and for the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. He has Series 52, Series 53, Series 63 and Series 7 security licenses.
