Ken Funderburk

Ken Funderburk joined Stifel with its acquisition of Alabama-based Merchant Capital in 2014. His career with Merchant Capital dates back 24 years, where he served as a banker in both corporate and public finance. His expertise includes industrial and commercial development bond financings, and a very wide range of public sector work including water and sewer, K-12, higher education, general government, and cooperative district/TIFF project financings.

Prior to his time as partner with Merchant Capital, Mr. Funderburk’s career was focused in the field of Economic Development, as Director of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Division. At one point he took a leave of absence from his employment with Merchant Capital, to serve as Director of the State of Alabama Development Office. During that period Mr. Funderburk was actively engaged in the recruitment of industry for the State, and was part of a team that successfully brought Hyundai, Honda and many other significant manufacturers to Alabama. Throughout his career, in both governmental work and as an investment banker, Mr. Funderburk has been engaged in attraction of jobs and new investment in Alabama. In addition to the manufacturing sector, he has assisted many communities around the state in their commercial and retail development efforts. He has served in various positions with the Economic Development Association of Alabama, including Board Member and Legislative Committee Chairman.

Mr. Funderburk received an Economics Degree from Auburn University, is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma, and is a graduate of the Institute for Management at the University of Georgia. He holds Series 52 and Series 63 security licenses.
