David M. Toepel, Jr.

David joined Stifel in 2017 as a Managing Director in the Private Capital Markets Group. He has over 22 years of Equity Capital Markets (ECM) experience. He brings industry-leading expertise in the structuring and placement of Institutional Pre-IPOs having acted as deal captain on over 70 Institutional Pre-IPOs totaling over $21 billion in capital raised.

Prior to joining Stifel, David was a Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of ECM at FBR & Co. where he led the equity syndicate and deal execution teams responsible for structuring, syndicating, and distributing equity capital markets transactions. While at FBR, he executed over 180 lead-left bookrun transactions totaling over $34 billion in capital raised through a variety of offering structures, including Pre-IPO Equity Offerings, Initial Public Offerings, Public Follow-On Offerings, and Private Investments in Public Equities (PIPES). Prior to FBR & Co., David was part of the ECM team at Piper Jaffray Companies.

David earned a B.A. from Kalamazoo College.
