Robert L. Rauch is a Managing Director of Miller Buckfire. Rob focuses on debt restructuring services for issuers and investors in the global emerging markets, covering the full spectrum of corporate and sovereign debt liability management, recapitalizations, and restructurings.

He has specialized in consensual out-of-court restructurings as well as judicial procedures including the Mexican Concurso Mercantil, Brazilian Recuperación Judicial (RJ and EJ), Indonesian Penundaan Kewajiban Pembayaran Utang (PKPU), Canadian Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), UK Scheme of Arrangement, and US Chapter 15 and Chapter 11.

Prior to joining Stifel in March 2021, Rob was Senior Partner and Portfolio Manager at Gramercy Funds Management, a $5 billion investment manager specializing in emerging markets fixed income and special situations investments. Over his 20-year tenure at the firm, he was co-portfolio manager for Gramercy’s high yield and distressed funds, served on its investment committees, and was committee chair or a leading creditor in the restructuring of $79 billion of debt across four dozen emerging markets issuers.

Rob has served in a principal capacity negotiating the restructuring of numerous companies across emerging markets including Afrisam, Alestra, Arpeni, Asia Pulp and Paper, Banro Corporation, BTA Bank Kazakhstan, Berlian Laju Tanker, Bio-Pappel, China Forestry, Consolidated Minerals, Desarrollos Mexicanos, Digicel, Dina, DTEK Energy, Durango, Essar Steel, Far East Shipping, Industrias Unidas, Invermexico, Iusacell, Kremikovtsi, Metrogas, New World Resources, Nakheel, Odebrecht Engineering and Construction, Pacific Exploration and Production, Magyar Telecom, Paiton Energy, Renaissance Insurance, San Luis, Satmex, Tamweel, Termoemcali, Tonon Bioenergia, TPI Polene, Transtel, Tristan Oil and Ukrlandfarming/Avangard.

He has also served on the board of Credivalores (a Colombian non-bank financial company), Banro corporation (a Canada TSX-listed gold miner in DRC), Pendulum (a Mexican NPL servicing company), and Satélites Mexicanos (a Mexican satellite company).

Earlier in his career, Rob served in a variety of advisory, credit, trading, and corporate finance roles at firms including Weston Group, Lehman Brothers, CS First Boston, First Interstate Bank, and Swiss Bank Corporation. Rob has an M.M. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.A. from Williams College.
