Matt serves as a Director in Stifel’s Energy & Natural Resources Investment Banking Group where he leads the A&D practice directly responsible for the technical evaluation of oil and gas opportunities in the United States. Prior to joining Stifel, Matt spent 14 years working with private and public oil and gas companies including Torrent Oil, Santo Petroleum, Murphy Oil, and EOG Resources.
His diverse background includes originating, advising, and executing on deal structuring for conventional, unconventional, domestic, and international opportunities ranging from $30 million to greater than $1 billion in value. While at Torrent Oil and Santo Petroleum, he successfully led business development, technical teams, and operations on behalf of private capital providers as the head of engineering and operations. At Murphy Oil, Matt was the U.S. onshore head of reservoir engineering and served as a member of the global business development team. At EOG Resources, he managed oilfield development throughout the Gulf Coast and Ark-La-Tex regions of the United States.
Matt received a B.Sc. Petroleum Engineer from The University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from The University of Texas at Tyler, as well as a M.Sc. Petroleum Geophysics from The University of Houston.
